Description

Natalie Graham is a well known artist for animals and wild life. She is mostly renowned for her paintings of hares. She uses vibrant colours, fluid strokes and a loose style with her painting. She brings her pictures alive. With the chicken theme she has looked at them in different ways and this is depicted in her style with the individual paintings. All of her paintings are signed in the bottom right hand corner and her provenance is on the back of each of the four paintings. Picture 1. Natalie Graham has painted a portrait of a rooster making it an expressive piece. The painting is characterized by vibrant, bleeding colours and using a loose energetic technique. The splatters of paint surrounding the rooster gives the portrait attention. She has also used the light to great effect, especially highlighting the eye and beak. Picture 2. Natalie Graham features a vibrant, colourful rooster strutting around. She utilizes loose brush strokes and splatters to create a dynamic effect, likely using artist grade water colours on thick quality water colour paper. In this picture the artist has focused on the contrast between its vibrant plumage and a neutral background. Using a loose style in her brush strokes she has effectively created movement. Picture 3. Natalie Graham has shown a different aspect in this painting, where she uses loose, expressive artwork prioritizing in capturing the ‘essence’ and energy of the subject rather than concentrating on anatomical perfection. She has used vibrant bleeding colours especially the rich reds, oranges and purples seen in the picture. She has used selective detail of the face and eye of the bird making it more defined, while the body dissolves into abstract splashes and ‘smudged whites’ to suggest motion. Picture 4 Natalie Graham has created a vibrant, abstract water colour painting of a rooster, characterized by loose brush strokes and a colourful splash technique. She has used a loose, expressive watercolour technique featuring a blend of deep blues, fiery reds and bright yellows. This style is usually known as ‘funky’ or ‘splash’ art. This is a very charismatic water colour painting and my favourite from the series. All of the thematic paintings shows Natalie Graham’s talent, and how she can diversify to still use the techniques she is known for, but she creates different aspects and images of the cockerel, or chicken. These paintings would look great in frames to match home decoration and the selected room. As they are unframed you have the freedom to choose your own frames. The 4 pictures are a great package to buy if interested in this form of art.
